Miglia Technology on Thursday introduced, a dual digital TV tuner for the Mac designed for European users looking to receive DVB-T broadcasts on their Macs. Miglia says it’s the first dual digital TV tuner for Macs, and its pricing wasn’t announced. Miglia expects to ship the device in late November. Digital Video Broadcasting - Terrestrial (DVB-T) is a digital video standard used by European broadcasters who send free over-the-air digital TV signals. The TVDuo includes two mini-antennas that Miglia says are effective at receiving strong DVB-T signals.
It works with a roof-mounted antenna, as well; there’s also a “Diversity” mode that enables you to combine both tuners and antennas to increase reception on a single TV channel. TVDuo is paired with Elgato’s popular EyeTV 2 software, which lets you record, edit and export the video you capture using the TVDuo device, or pause, rewind or fast forward live TV. An electronic program guide (EPG) is also available; as is a full screen menu mode.
Because the TVDuo employs two TV tuners, you can watch one channel while you record another. It connects to the Mac using USB 2.0, and measures 98 x 68 x28 mm (3.9 x 2.7 x 1.1 inches) and weighs 450 g (15.9 ounces). A wireless remote control is included.
